Chronomancer rostering SMS
Chronomancer operates one SMS programme: rostering messages sent on behalf of businesses to their own rostered staff. This page describes exactly what it sends and how to stop.
Who operates this programme
Chronomancer is a rostering platform operated as a sole trader based in Auckland, New Zealand. Chronomancer is the sender of record for this programme.
Businesses use Chronomancer to roster their own staff and contractors. When a message goes out, Chronomancer is the operator and the business is named in the message body as the workplace the message concerns. We do not sell, rent or share these numbers, and we never message anyone on behalf of a business they do not work for.
Who receives messages
Only people a business has entered into its own contact list as staff or contractors it rosters — its scare actors, bar staff, guides, floor crew. There is no public sign-up, no purchased list, and no marketing to anyone. Recipients are people with an existing working relationship with the business that rosters them.
What we send
Every message in this programme is transactional and tied to a specific roster:
- Roster open — the roster for an upcoming period is open; a personal link to choose shifts.
- Reminder — a nudge, sent at most once per roster, to someone who has not yet responded before it closes.
- Confirmation — which shifts they were allocated, or that they are on standby.
- Open shift — a shift has become free; a one-time link to claim it, first claim wins.
- Operational message — a message an authorised manager sends to a group of their own rostered staff about that work.
We do not send marketing, promotions, or third-party content on this programme.
Frequency
Message frequency varies by how often the business rosters and how often the recipient works. For a typical weekend-driven venue this is in the order of 1–5 messages per roster period, most commonly weekly. Recipients only receive messages about rosters they are actually included in.
How people opt in
Consent is collected by the business, offline, at the point it engages the person — not through this website. Before any number can be sent an SMS through Chronomancer, the business must record in the platform how that person agreed to be texted (for example: a consent clause in their engagement agreement, an onboarding form, or a verbal agreement recorded by a manager), together with a note identifying where that evidence is held. Chronomancer stores this as a dated, append-only record naming the basis, the number it was given for, and which of the business's administrators recorded it.
A number with no recorded opt-in basis cannot be sent an SMS through Chronomancer. This is enforced by the platform, not by policy: the send is refused. Changing someone's phone number automatically voids the opt-in for the old number, because consent belongs to the number.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's mobile plan. Chronomancer and the businesses that use it do not charge recipients for these messages.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. This stops all rostering messages to that number immediately and permanently, across every business on the platform — the block is held against the number itself, not against one business's records. You will receive one confirmation message and then nothing further.
We honour STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPT OUT and REVOKE.
A business cannot undo your STOP by editing their records or re-uploading their contact list — the block survives both. Messaging can only resume if you yourself ask that business to re-subscribe you, and they record how and when you asked.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message for programme information and contact details. You can also email go@chronomancer.live, or contact the business that rosters you directly.
Privacy
How we handle personal information — including phone numbers, message history and consent records — is set out in our Privacy Policy.
